Someday is about four different people's story about love.
Hana Yamaguchi (Bae Doo-Na) is a successful young cartoonist. Although she writes romantic comics, she is analytical and pessimistic about love. Nicknamed the "Love Alalyzer," Hana sees love as a simple biological response. When her comic book is discontinued, she decides to move back home to Japan. Hana meets an elderly couple and she is fasinated with their love for each other. One day the elderly man passes away. The elderly woman is so mornful that she steals his ashes. Hana can not understand this kind of love, so she sets out to discover what love really is.
Go Jin Pyo (Kim Min Joon) is a doctor who is a comic book fan. He spends every free moment reading them. His favorite cartoon is Hana Yamaguchi's comic. He even flys to Japan for every new release of her series. He is a close friend with Hye Young.
Lee Seok Man (Lee Jin Wook) is a private investigator with a sad past. His parents where killed in a car accident, for which he was the only survivor. He feels a lot of guilt towards the widow of the victom in the other car. He tries to spend every moment of his time doing good deeds and helping others.
Hye Young (Oh Yoon Ah) is a PD of animation projects. She does not let others get close to her because of being hurt in the past. She is close friends with Jin Pyo.
The first Korean drama to integrate animation and live action, Someday is like no drama that has come before. Through outstanding cinematography and visual design, this groundbreaking drama beautifully lenses Korea's contemporary urban landscape and peeks into the moody, imaginative world of a comic book artist, portrayed by Bae Du Na. By melding animation and live-action, the drama not only successfully captures the comic book aesthetic, it takes it one step further by turning the television screen into a moving comic book, complete with panels and speech bubbles.
Written by movie screenwriter Kim Hee Jae (Hanbando), Someday represents another landmark work from Yellow Film, whose other 2006 titles include the critically acclaimed Alone in Love and Freeze. A "movie-like drama" with top-end production values, Someday features film star Bae Du Na (The Host), drama favorite Kim Min Joon (Lovers in Prague, Damo), and rising stars Lee Jin Wook and Oh Yoon Ah from Alone in Love. In contrast with its fanciful images, the drama stays candid and grounded in its exploration of modern relationships and romance, presenting a story that is both painfully realistic and longingly lighthearted.
