1969, Korea... Ten-year old Young-rae lives alone with his mother in the countryside. Life is difficult for them and his mother is forced to sell illegally imported cosmetics on the street. But Young-rae is plucky and can stand up to anything including defending his mother ? anything except when other kids call him names for being "fatherless." So when he hears that the father he had only dreamed of is alive and living in Seoul, he makes it his life goal to get to city and find him. The only way to get there, however, is a long and expensive train ride. To raise money, Young-rae starts to sell ice cream bars. As his goal nears, will his dream come true?
 Actress Sin Ae-ra debuts on the big-screen with the film "Ice Bar". SHIN plays a single mother whose son, still a young boy, sells ice cream using an improvised ice cream parlor. The boy wishes to look for his father in Seoul and therefore tries to earn money for the trip. The boy is played by Park Ji-bin.
In "Ice Bar" SIN is a caring mother who raises her child as well as she can and tries to protect him from a society which discriminates single mothers and their children. SHIN Ae-ra is often in the headlines for other reasons than acting. She and her celebrity actor husband Cha In-pyo ("Hanbando") are known for their philanthropy, usually for the well-being of children. In real life they tackled another social issue when the couple adopted a child. Korean babies are usually adopted abroad, also because of the prominence of bloodlines in Korean society. The media saw the couple's decision as a positive influence in favor of domestic adoption.
SIN is best known for her role in the 2005 television drama "Bad Wife". Child actor Park Ji-bin played in last year's Hello Brother. After directing short films, director Yeo In-kwang makes his feature film debut with Ice Bar.
