With 26 film sequels and upwards of 100 TV episodes, Shintaro Katsu is the legendary Zatoichi! He's a low ranking blind masseur who lives by the Yakuza code and answers his foes with a deadly cane sword. By far, one of Japanese cinema's most time honored screen personas, Zatoichi is, to this day, the ultimate anti-hero and champion of the common man.
With more killer swordsmanship, romance and action-packed drama, the Blind Swordsman is back in the first color episode of the Zatoichi series. Masseur Ichi returns to his home village to discover that his former teacher has been hiring out his swordsmanship skills to a ruthless gang of kidnappers. Meanwhile the mentor's sister offers herself in marriage to Zatoichi, who must decline because of the danger it would bring to any woman Ichi was known to love.
Love and loyalty are at the core of this third installment in the popular Japanese samurai series ZATOICHI, THE BLIND SWORDSMAN. Zatoichi returns home in this volume, but finds that everything is not well. His former instructor has become a hired hand for a kidnapping ring. As Zatoichi deals with this crushing blow his mentor's sister gives herself to the blind swordsman in marriage, an offer Zatoichi must decline. This 1963 episode in the series was the first to be shot in color.
