Masseur Ichi returns to his home village to discover that his former teacher has been hiring out his swordsmanship skills to a ruthless gang of kidnappers. Love and loyalty are at the core of this third installment in the popular Japanese samurai series ZATOICHI, THE BLIND SWORDSMAN. Zatoichi returns home in this volume, but finds that everything is not well. His former instructor has become a hired hand for a kidnapping ring. As Zatoichi deals with this crushing blow his mentor's sister gives herself to the blind swordsman in marriage, an offer Zatoichi must decline. This 1963 episode in the series was the first to be shot in color.
