Forever-winning gambler Hoi (Adam Cheng) challenged tycoon Yiu (Poon Chi Man) in Shanghai to avenge for his teacher. He came across Hau (DoDo Cheng), they were enemles at first, but after Hoi saved Hau from her deceitful fiance Wai (Lo Ka Leung), they became iriends. Hau tried to get closer, but Hoi couldn't have forgotten her love, Koo Ching Wah (Cheung Ho Yee).
Keung (Sunny Chan) acquired fame and power with the assistance of Wan (Kwok Siu Wan), Lik (Lam Ka Dong) and Kwai (Lui Fong). Yin's danghter Ching (Nadia Chan) and Keung were in love. However, he conldn't stand Yiu betrayed the country by working for Japan, he left Ching and went to Hong Kong. Lin took the opportunity and won ching's heart. Keung then married his new girlfriend wan (Vivien Leung). However, she was killed by Yin's men. Keung swore to take revenge and joined forces with Hoi....
The story takes place around the 30's in Shanghai. Hui Man Keung is a young man who comes to Shanghai to make it a place of his own. There, he met Ting Lik and the two eventually partnered in the entertainment business. There in Shanghai, he also met the love of his life, Fung Ching Ching. She is the daughter of Fung King Yiu aka Shanghai's Hero. Things get complicated as Ting Lik killed one of Shanghai's boss. In order to remain in Shanghai in one piece, the two decided to work for Fung King Yiu. The story goes on from there with plenty complications and conflicts to keep your eyes glue to the TV.
