"The Big Picture" is a documentary television program which ran on ABC from 1953 to 1959. The program consisted of documentary films produced by the United States Army Signal Corps' Army Pictorial Service, showing biographies of famous soldiers, weaponry, and historical battles.
After "The Big Picture's" run on ABC ended, it aired in syndication for several more years, running on local television stations well into the early 1970s.
Volume One of this acclaimed series focuses on the KOREAN WAR.
Often referred to as the "Forgotten War", the Korean War came on the heels of World War II and was overshadowed by the Vietnam War. Because the Korean War only lasted three short years (1950-1953), it is not considered as significant, and often not even mentioned. However, if the casualty statistics are compared of the Korean War (54,246) to those of the Vietnam War (58,226), which lasted over sixteen long years, by ratio the Korea War was far bloodier than Vietnam.
